Crazy Cajun Creole

I cannot stop talking about my new favorite restaurant - Yats! So, a couple weeks ago I stroll into Yats in Broad Ripple with two customers thinking it'd be a normal lunch discussing the enthralling world of roofing (ha, ha). I'm very aware of who in this city takes AMEX, but I didn't notice any credit card logos on the door. Uh oh...I'll just ask when I get up to the counter, right? Well, after asking three times if they took cards, and getting three responses of "what would you like", "what can I get you", "what sounds good" I hestitantly placed my order. Then I get this ticket...an I.O.U!!! Are you serious?? How stinkin cool is that???????!!!!! To top it off, the food was amazing and the atmosphere is great. I went back to pay my bill this week. The guy that took my order remembered my name as I walked in the door, and then gave me a free drink for my honesty!! Go to Yats...it ROCKS!!!! (But don't forget cash!)

Southern Hospitality

We had a great time this weekend visiting with our friends, the Delays, down in Knoxville, TN. Tim and I are very lucky with Grant and Lilly - they are so easy going when we travel! Grant enjoyed the new array of things to explore and get into, feeding a goose and playing in the sand at the park, and touring around the Knoxville Zoo. Lilly happily tagged along for all the festivities in her sling. Josh and Jessica were so sweet to open their home to the four of us. We're quite sure they had a glimpse into the sometimes chaotic world of having two very young children!

Cookies Round Two

...a little more evidence that I don't sit still, even after the kids go to bed. I'm getting better...or maybe I'm just more patient with the whole art of piping icing. Pretty much the definition of tedious! Next on the list to try is Handy Manny's tools for Grant's bday party in a few weeks and then onto Thanksgiving turkeys. This is why I have butter stockpiled in the freezer!!

4 Months!

Wow, has the time flown by - Lilly is now 4 months old! I can't believe how much she's changed since the picture of her at home with us the first week. She is a beautiful addition to our family and we praise God for such a gift!

New Hobby??

I'm a master at never sitting still (Tim would totally agree!)...I organize, re-organize, clean out closets that result in countless trips to Goodwill, find things in the pantry that will work in a recipe just so I can cook, find new things for Grant to get into, and the list goes on. Well, I found something new to try for a little while and we'll see how long it lasts. It was so much fun that I had to document it! And since you can find absolutely anything on Google I might just master the art of "flood icing". Regardless of how they look, these cookies are absolutely tasty - not hard to do when the recipe starts off with 4 sticks of butter!!!

Bouncy Boy

Today, we thought we'd finally take advantage of some free admission for kids under 2 to Bouncertown - we've got 38 days to make up for it! Grant was much more fascinated with the arcade games and skeeball (that's our boy!!) than the inflatables. I think he was even a little scared about the way it felt to walk on them. Lilly enjoyed the lights and was pretty happy watching her brother run around. These are the types of days that get me through the work week and I always look forward so much to having quality family time together.

Go COLTS!!

It's only right that we make our children Colts fans! After all Tim and I did meet at a game almost 5 years ago and got engaged in the same spot at the Dome. Oh, and we're off to a great start to the season...4-0!!!

Apples, apples, apples...

Grant and Lilly enjoyed the Anderson Orchard yesterday. What a beautiful night it was! I realized how much I missed the fall weather and just love that it's time for hot spiced cider and cider slushes again! Grant's favorite part wasn't eating an apple right from the ground, but the bright yellow fork lift that the orchard uses to move the apples...all boy.
